CACO Youth

Car Wash Fundraising

On June 20th and 21st CACO Youth organized a carwash fundraiser at Sunset Lanes in Beaverton, OR. The car wash resulted in $270 being raised to provide for summer activities. Peset Lim organized and supervised the event that was attended by 10 youth volunteers. Peset taught the youth how to wash cars until they gleamed. Much thanks to Sunset Lanes for providing the parking lot and water.

Snowboarding at Mt. Hood Meadows

2005's snowboarding trip was an event organized by the youth to venture to Mt. Hood for a weekend and learn how to snowboard and ski. Fifteen adults and youths left friday evening from Portland and drove to Aubrey Watzek lodge, a Boy Scouts of America site, located next to Mt. Hood Meadows. At the lodge were two tubing hills and very nice facilities. Snowboarding was excellent even with the lack of snow. Everyone had a great time.

Bowling at Valley Lanes

The first activity organized by the CACO youth group was a family bowling night at Valley Lanes in Beaverton. It was very successful and a good start for the youth leaders. Approximately 30 people showed up for the fun night and all had a great time.

Upcoming Youth Events

Hun Kim
Co-President
I am Co-President with Melissa. I do Cambodian Cultural dancing (3 years with CACO and 4 years with the Cambodian Dance Troop Of Oregon). I am 17 years old, a junior at Aloha High School and I was born in Thailand on April 8th, 1988.

Melissa Im
Co-President
I'm a sophomore at Clackamas High School, I'm in track & field, speech & debate, Chamber orchestra, and was currently elected district secretary of key club. I'm the co-president of CACO Youth and participate in Cambodian Traditional dance.

Stephany Saing
Secretary
Being a junior at Westview High School, there is a lot of pressure of being involved with the school and the community before graduating. Being in the CACO Youth group is like being involved with both of them at the same time! I loved being involved with this youth group because we get to do fun activities and help with the community, again at the same time! Well you're probably wondering what my position is in CACO Youth, well I am the secretary. I don't consider me the "secretary" because there is no hiearchy nor a absolute ruler, we are all one since we all are invovled in everything the group does! Getting connected with your roots and being involved with the community is great transcript builder and a GREAT experience that will last a lifetime!

Sita Ping
Treasurer
Hi! My name is Sita Ping and I am on the board committee for CACO Youth. I have been involved with it since it first started. What I like most about CACO Youth is just helping out with our community and at the same time having lots of fun! I am currently 14 years old (and will turn 15 in August) and a freshman at Westview High School. Some of my hobbies are watching Tv and movies, hanging out with the family, especially my three sisters, and friends, playing on the computer and listening to music (all that good stuff!). My favorite bands/singers are Our Lady Peace, Ashlee Simpson, Britney Spears, The King: Elvis of course, and Jack Johnson.

Sidhtara Tep
Youth Leader
My name is Sidhtara Tep. I am sixteen years old and attend Westview High School. Besides CACO youth, I am involved in Model United Nations, Lacrosse, the National Honors Society and much more. My position in this group is youth leader. Something that I do to help out the youth group is that I'm there to help when things need to be done and I do anything that is asked to the best of my ability.CACO Youth is great thing to be involved in because it allows the youth to get a first hand experience in organizing and planning the fun activities as well as getting in touch with our culture.
